Our First Snow!

Good morning!  Today's post is not about decorating but about our first North Carolina Snow!  Yes, this is our first snow!  We had snow in 2009 that was absolutely beautiful.  It is already melting so I wanted to get some photos .... it is very rare to get snow in the Triad.  Pretty common to get it in the Carolina Mountains close to the Virginia borders.

The roads are fine but they close the schools anyway.  They think that the secondary roads are too hazardous.  When I attended school they had it regardless.  I remember when the President made the comment when they closed the schools in DC ..... he said they would still have school in Chicago.
Snow makes anything beautiful .... I kind of miss it but not the digging out I would have to do in WV.  The plow would do the street and then all my hard work would be destroyed because we aren't talking about 3 inches ..... it would snow up to 3 feet or more!

Our electricity was off for about 4 hours last evening, this was a very heavy wet snow!  We had been having several days of rain and it was even thundering and lightning last night!!

Weighing down the big pines in the yard!

It will reach 40 degrees today.

It is so beautiful!!

I know that most of you get way more snow, almost everyday in the winter but I am excited that we did get some snow.

I went for a walk early and it is melting very very quick.

Have a beautiful weekend and I will be back with more Creative Ideas Monday!

  1. Good Evening Patty, The photos you have taken of the snow are beautiful and I can see how much snow has fallen by the pine trees.....they look totally weighed down. I am glad the electricity is back on, because it is wonderful looking at the snow if you are warm and cosy indoors, but not much fun if the house is cold.
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne
